3. BiodataSayed Ishaq Gailani, son of Sayed Ali Gailani, was born in 1973 in the second district
of Kabul province to a well-known religious family. He is the leader of Hezb-e-Nuhzat Hambastagi Milli and is a Sufi religious leader (or “pir”). Gailani graduated from Nadirya High School in Kabul in 1978, and later earned his bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from Tehran University.
Sayed Ishaq Gailani is a nephew of Pir Ahmad Gailani, who is the leader of the Qadiriyya Sufist order and also the head of the National Islamic Front of Afghanistan (NIFA). Gailani participated in the Bonn conference in 2001 as well as the Cyprus meetings.
Sayed Ishaq Gailani is chairman of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan an announced presidential candidate for the Afghan general election which was held June 2004. His Vice-presidents were Mohammed Ismail Qasimyar, Baryali Nasraty.

Sayed Ishaq Gailani is the son of Mr. Sayed Ali Gailani (Shir Aqa Jan) and the grandson of late Naqib Sahib. Gailani was born in 1954 in Shahr e Naw, Kabul. He grew up under the supervision of his sufi father in Kabul. He completed his primary and secondary education in Masod e Sad School and completed high school education at Nadiria High School. Gailani excelled in school and received a scholarship to study Political Science in Tehran University of Iran. Upon his graduation from Tehran University, he completed his LLB. Gailani migrated to Pakistan soon after the USSR invasion in Afghanistan and began his holy war against the USSR forces and their Afghan supporters in Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Zabul, Ghazni, Kunar and Kandahar Provinces. He also worked with the "National Islamic Front of Afghanistan" and the "National Liberation Front of Afghanistan", led by Pir Sayed Ahmad Gailani and Sibghatullah Mujadidi, respectively, in various high-ranking positions.)
Soon after the defeat of the USSR forces, Mr. Gailani began his efforts for peace-building, national solidarity, and unity. Gailani and his team established a party, named the "National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan" (NSMA) in 2002. The party registered with the Ministry of Justice after the creation of the new constitution in 2004. Gailani was the first Presidential candidate from his party. Gailani says, was the only party leader to gain the support of various tribes in the country. There are offices in many Provinces in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on 20131019 introduced eight individuals to Wolesi Jirga to replace seven members standing down in the run up to the April 5, 2014 elections and one deceased female lawmaker.They replaced resigning MPs including Syed Ishaq Gillani, Syed Hussain Anwari, Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, Mohammad Mohaqqiq, Shah Abdul Ahad Afzali, Syed Hussain Alami Balkhi, Ibrahim Qasmi and deceased female lawmaker from western Herat, Shehnaz Himmati, who has died in a road crash in neighbouring Iran.(20131019)
Ishaq Gailani is married to Fatana Gailani, Head of Afghanistan Women Council, and has two daughters.
He speaks Pashtu, Dari and English.
